SAY NO TO FGM

Female Genital Mutilation I used to think is a thing of the past. Little did i know that it is a major problem in our society.

I know our forefathers used it as a control for Female Sexuality
But I still dey wonder why dem no wan their young children to enjoy sex when they grow up.

IS FGM OF ANY HEALTH BENEFIT?
Absolutely not!

As a matter of fact in May 2014, President Goodluck Jonathan (The former Nigerian President at the time) banned Female Genital Mutilation in Nigeria. However, this situation is still happening in the rural communities. It's even bad that some parents send their unknowing young girls to the villages for this purpose.

We need to intensify the campaign to end FGM most especially in our communities.
I am excited about the latest innovation by some young girls in Kenya. Considering how common it is in their community.
Stacy Owino, Ivy Akiny, Cynthia Otieno, Mascrine Aieno and Purity Achieng created a mobile App called I-Cut
This mobile app connects young girls who are at the risk of FGM to rescue centers and they get all the help that they need.

There is a lot left to be done to eradicate FGM totally in Nigeria and with an intensive sensitization
we will be saying NO TO FGM.
