Buhari through Useni blames his bad governance on advisers

In the spirit of Christmas and the holidays, I want to say for the records that those responsible for misleading this country, the present government regime and other Nigerians should resolve to do the right thing at all times in their given areas of responsibility, In the coming year if not the country will continue to experience serious problems.

A few days ago, a one time Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni (retd), stated that there is a huge influx of bad advisers working under the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari, and these constitutes a threat to good governance and democratic practice Nigeria, the report report stated.
He said, “As a president, Buhari does not do everything by himself; he has advisers. If you have advisers and they advise you properly, you will do proper thing but when you have bad advisers, you will have problems.
“What I am saying is that there are good and bad advisers. So if there is anything going wrong at all under the administration, it must be based on bad advisers and not that him, as an individual, will try to see that things are done badly.

OMG! Can you see how this president is trying to shift the blame of bad decisions he make and his inadequacies to run the country to his advisers? What is wrong with you acknowledging that you are doing a terrible job at governing and let younger people that have the interest of the people at heart to run the country.
And as for you Lt. General Useni, why are you trying to confuse the people and give them wrong information to distract them? The truth is what we want! Stop shifting blames and let the people know the truth instead of sugarcoating it and trying to make Buhari look good when he is not.

President Buhari Please release Comrade Sowore

I am honestly beginning to believe that there is more to the detaining of Comrade Sowore.
Sowore was first arrested in August 2019 when he organized a protest where he peacefully demanded a better country from president Buhari.

Sowore Omoyele a 48yr old Nigerian activist was caught up in the middle of a nightmare on Friday morning where an unidentified man struck him in court. Sowore was in court for a trial where the Department of state services accused him of planning to bring down the government of President Buhari.
What is really going on in this country Nigeria? We say there is freedom of speech and press, but when a citizen voices an opinion, you send them to jail.

When the preceding was disrupted on Friday  dec 6th, by the armed men of the Department of State Services, even the presiding judge had to run for cover! They created a whole scene that I am personally ashamed of. Sowore that had been earlier released on bail was again rearrested for another charge!
My prayer is that they don't kill this man in jail... Sowore is a man asking the government for what the Nigerian people deserve but they are trying to shut him up at all cost.

President Buhari Please do what is right and release Sowore Omoyele.

Vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo calls for punishment of people found guilty of gender based violence and the adoption of preventive measures against this form of violence.
This launch is in line with the 16days of International campaign to put an end to violence against women and girls.
The theme for this year's campaign is 'Orange the world: Generation Equality stands against Rape '
This campaign, which usually runs from the 25th of November through 10th of December, is in response to the volume of marginalization that women go through based on our gender.

What I am mostly impressed about, is the fact that the Nigerian vice-president is lending his voice to this campaign. He encourages every country to look beyond systematic dysfunction of cultures in other to prevent sexual based violence.  He emphasis everyone to stop downgrading speeches towards women.

I think it is very important that people found guilty of sexual violence be brought to book by the law because if this not done, these act will definitely continue.
Parents generally have a huge role to play in this respect. Because as parents raising children, we have to make sure that we imbibe the knowledge of ZERO tolerance to gender/sexual based violence.

57 Arraigned for being GAY in Lagos Nigeria

The Federal high court of Nigeria was on the 4th of Nov 2019.  supposed to arraign 55 alleged gays before Justice Rilwan Aikuwa, however, the Court space was too small to accommodate all the accused.

As the case proceeded, Isreal Usman, who is the defence council made it known to the court that only 46 of the 57 accused of being gay were available to be arraigned. the Judge, however, responded that he was only aware of 36 defendants that were listed before him. he further said that because the 57 allegedly accused of being gay by the Nigerian Police was a huge number and the court would not accommodate them, therefore the case was adjourned to the 22nd of November 2019.

The accused were arrested by the Nigerian Police on the 26th of August 2016at a hotel in Egbeda, Lagos Nigeria. They were charged under section 5(2) of the same sex prohibition act of 2013.

Tales of a gay Nigerian youth

On the 27th of October 2019, a young man in Nigeria, by name Mattew Blaise, recently
took to twitter to narrate his experience as being Nigerian and Gay.
In Nigeria, homophobic attack on people living as LGBTQ is very rampant because of
the Nigerian law that is against it and anyone associated with LGBTQ. The perpetrators
of these human rights violations are never arrested or charged with any crime because
of this law.
Mattew narrated on twitter how terrible he feels and emphasis on how this has affected
his mental health.

I personally believe that the reason that this law was made is as a result of the depth of
religious ignorance that has eaten deeply into the bones of Nigeria and Nigerians. it is a
pity that the lawmakers in Nigeria have refused to acknowledge the truth and let every life
matters. The scream buy made in Nigeria goods to grow the Naira but go abroad for three
weeks on "PRIVATE VISIT" or should I say medical visit.
Mattew's experience bellow as twitted...

Chibok Girls,,,,,5years after

In April 2014, there was a kidnap of 276
girls from an all-girls boarding school in
Chibok, Borno state. These girls became
known and referred to as The Chibok girls.
Somewhere along the line, some girls were
released and some even escaped their
captives however, 111 girls are still missing
and their families and the community still
waits for their return.
When this incident happened, I vividly
remember how loud the movement ‘Bring
Back Our Girls’ was and how international
bodies and prominent personalities
advocated for these girls to be released.
Five years down the line and there is still
no news of these missing girls, we still
wonder what could have happened to
them. Their families and the Chibok
society still wonder if they will ever be
recovered. The UNICEF recorded more
than 3,500 missing children that are
recruited and used as armed groups
within the Nort-East Nigeria since 2013.
The report stated that about 432 children
were killed,180 abducted and about 43
girls happened to be sexually abused.
It seems like the world has totally
forgotten about the kidnapped young girls
and I believe it is safe to say that if they
were the children of The Nigerian
President or Vice President, this would not
be the case. Someone would have been
held accountable. Now it is 5 years down
the line and there are still no answers, the
parents of these children are in terrible
pains and in total darkness as to the
whereabouts of their children. The
Government doesn't seem to be doing
anything and everyone seems to be quiet
about it.
On the 9th of September 2019, a young
man by the name of Mr. Bensons recently
won an award for a virtual story at the
Venice film festival. This short film has
brought some sort of hope to the parents
of these girls and the entire Chibok
community. In his acceptance speech,
Mr. Benson said ‘we can’t move on from
the tragedy that happened has it is not yet
over. His short film titled DAUGHTER OF
CHIBOK was shot in Chibok and it shows
the actual circumstance in which the
community is at present and Mr. Benson
also added that majority of these families
have other children that they cater for,
however, they live in the fear every and
poverty has also taken over the better part
of them.

Bobrisky, the focus of Nigerian youths

So I recently came across an article on ‘The
Nation online Nigeria’ and to say I was amazed,
is an understatement. it is a shame to see that
our youths took time to organize a protest against
LGBTs at the National Council for Arts and Culture
[NCAC] headquarters in Abuja. With all the
problems currently going on in Nigeria, Bobrisky
seems to be on the top of the list cos to think that
with all the kidnapping, rubbery, corruption, bad
roads, bad health system etc, [Bobrisky is an
Internet / social media personality who is known
to be a prominent cross-dresser in Nigeria]

According to the report, people that participated
in the protest were members of ‘The National
Youth Council of Nigeria [NYCN. These youths
went out last week with their placard-carrying
different inscriptions and calling out Bobrisky as
a very bad influence on the Nigerian youth.
The spokesperson of the group in person of
comrade Akoshile said “The Nigerian youths
were against all the activities of Bobrisky and ask
that NCAC, which is the custodian of Nigerian
culture and values to make a declaration on the
situation at hand.

The long and short of this story is that The
National Youth Council of Nigeria alongside The
National Council for Arts and Culture have come
to the conclusion that Bobrisky should stop
promoting LGBT in Nigeria or opt for the option of
leaving the Country.

This story just reminded me of the time that
President Buhari said the Nigerian youths are very
lazy! He said instead of focusing on things that
matter and relevant, they would rather make
noise and complain about everything. I must say
that on this note, I totally agree with
Mr. President.

Anti-gay extorter arrested in Nigeria

The Nigerian Police recently arrested a
Port Harcourt-based anti-gay extorter, Charles Henry
Chukwuebuka who was caught in the act while he
was in the process of trying to extort money from his
latest victim. This is one of the problems in most
homophobic countries, most especially when such a
country has an anti-gay law.
The victim, Narrating his ordeal, saying he was
lured by extorter who sent various erotic
messages after they connected and started
relating via social media. initially, he said, he
wasn’t interested in connecting with
Chukwuebuka in reality, but eventually agreed
after he was persuaded.
Upon his arrival at Chukwuebuka’s apartment in
Port Harcourt, at about 11 p.m., he was met with
Chukwuebuka alongside another young man
who demanded money of him and also tried to
get his phone off him, which he refused to hand
it over, The victim was then attacked by these
two men, who smashed his mobile phone and
also stole his money forcefully.
The victim shouted for help, which alerted
neighbors. Chukwuebuka told the neighbors that
the victim is gay and that he had come with the
intention to have sex with him.
Unfortunately for Chuckwuemeka, he had no
proof to support his claim. he had, on the other hand,
is the one sending erotic messages to the victim
which had been deleted. Their conversation was also
not available on the victim’s phone has it has been
smashed. this, unfortunately for Chukwuemeka led
to his arrest as he was unable to prove to the police
that the victim was gay.
On the flip side, I am guessing that if Chukwuemeka
was able to prove that the victim was gay, the victim
would have been the one to be arrested ignoring all
the offenses that Chukwuemeka might have
committed. however, I am glad that reverse is the
case this time and the victim was lucky.

Tinder's "Traveler Alert"

Tinder has recently partnered with the
International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans,
and Intersex Association, by making use of
data collected and compiled by its State-
Sponsored Homophobia Report. There are
currently, about 69 countries where being
LGBTQ is a criminal offense and Tinder is
determined to protect its LGBTQ users
from potential risks and prevent them from
getting into danger.
A new security feature is designed to warn
users of the dating app about the risks faced
by LGBTQ people in various countries
that still have laws against same-sex love.

In seven Countries, four in Asia, namely
Yemen, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Brunei, and
three in Countries in Africa Namely Nigeria,
Somalia and Sudan have a same-sex acts law
that makes anyone guilty by act or association
are punishable by death. In six other
countries, the death penalty for same-sex
involvement remains a possibility, Countries
such as Iraq, Qatar, Mauritania, United Arab
Emirates, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
The new update is called “Traveler Alert,” this
the update allows every user of Tinder who is
identified as LGBTQ will by default not,
appear on Tinder once they open their app
in any of the 69 countries where being LGBTQ
is a crime.
However, If they decide to make their profile
public, the app will temporarily remove their
sexual orientation and gender identification
associated with their profile to in other to
safeguard users from law enforcement and
individuals who may be directly or indirectly
of a target to them.
“We hope that this development will raise and
increase awareness amongst all Tinder users,
and help protect people of diverse sexual
orientations in the 69 countries around
the world that are presently criminalizing
same-sex love,” André du Plessis, the
executive director at the International Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex
Association stated.
“We work hard to change practices, laws, and
attitudes that put LGBTQ people at risk —
including the use of dating apps to target our
community — but in the meantime, the safety
of our communities also depends on supporting
their digital safety,” he added.
I am indeed excited about this development,
this is because a lot of people are subjected to
various unspeakable things just because of their
sexual orientation. I look forward to a Nigeria
where your sexual orientation or association
will not determine whether you should be
allowed to live or die.

Russian Gay activist Killed

Russia’s gays and lesbians society are not
new to hate crimes and even homophobic
murders. However, there is a new vigilante
group seeking to turn violence against the
LGBT society and also encouraging fellow
Russians to hunt them down.
Activists Tumasov said the vigilante group’s
website has been around for about a year,
and their primary aim is making available
names and pictures of  LGBTs and promising
“awards” for attacks on them.
On July 21, at the age of 41, the body of Yelena
Grigoryeva was found in a bush close to
where she lives in Saint Petersburg, with
nothing less than eight stab wounds on her
face and back.
The murder of  Grigoryeva has left Russia’s
LGBT community horrified, even though
there seems to be no firm evidence linking
Pila vigilante directly to Grigoryeva’s fatal
stabbing.
“I do not know who these people are, but it
is import to know that people who think this
way are living among us,” acknowledged
activist Mikhail Tumasov, who according to
him has also received various threats from
Pila.

Another Prominent activist Igor Kochetkov
accused the authorities of doing little or next
to nothing to stop this as he urges the police to
do more of probing the website and the death
threats issued against Grigoryeva and other
activist and LGBTs.
Kochetkov considering his name was also
listed on the hit list, said in a video, “Dear
police and other law enforcement agencies.
It’s time to get to work!”
“Start protecting all citizens! And if you
believe that people like us should not be
protected find yourselves a different job.”
The Pila’s website has only recently been
blocked, But Pila has promised “to play until
the end”,  not bulged about the ban.

Towards the end of last month, investigators
arrested a man who was suspected of killing
Grigoryeva and suggesting that the attack
was the result of a personal dispute.
but later said they had the wrong man and
detained a new suspect. The investigators,
however, made no mention of any form of
homophobic threats against the activist and
implying she was killed by someone that she
had a drink with. May the soul of Yelena rest
in peace, however, everybody deserves a
right to life no matter their sexual orientation.
The police really need to do better!
